where to stay for less?

We%26#39;re a family of 6 with kids, ages 7-12, must have a pool, coming through in mid-June and will only stay for one night. Just want a place that is clean, comfortable, and kid-friendly that we can afford. Less than $80 a night would be good. Is that even possible?

Thanks!

There are less expensive places to stay in the area. Do you have AA A ? Places away from the coast would be the least expensive.

Where are you heading on your trip? Sarasota has different parts of town.

Here is the TA Hotel list sorted by price under $100:

There are others....~SRQgirl

Best Western Midtown goes for $81 per room per night; it%26#39;s been recently rehabbed. La Quinta on US41 just north of downtown also goes for $80 per night. Further up 41, on the way to the airport, are several motels in the $60 to $80 range: Knights Inn, Quality Inn, Comfort Inn. I can%26#39;t give you any recommendations on any of those; that area is not the greatest part of Sarasota. Since those motels are all grouped fairly close to each other, it would be best to drive by and take a look when you arrive. You should be able to get rooms without a reservation.

No we do not have AAA. We will have spent an afternoon in Venice and will head north to St. Pete for a visit with my elderly aunt and uncle before heading back home. Thank you for the info.

If you take a look at the list I posted, you might consider the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson on Gantt Rd. and Clark Rd. Exit 205 on I-75.

It is not a long drive from Venice to Sarasota. There are less expensive places further north on I-75, or you could stay closer to St. Pete.

In any event, it would be smart to stay close to the Interstate.

There%26#39;s also a Sleep Inn on the Manatee river just off I-75 in Ellenton (north of Bradenton) that is probably about 7 to 10 years old.

You could also check www.roomsaver.com and www.travelcoupons.com. The rates listed are walk-up rates, but I%26#39;m sure you would not have a problem walking in to any hotel off I-75 and getting a room.
