snorkeling in the Keys

We are going to the keys the end of May. Will someone suggest good off beach snorkeling sites and the best snorkeling boat trips.

Thanks

The best snorkeling is in the dry tortugas. Look up Yankee Freedom on the internet. It%26#39;s a huge catamaran that leaves out of the harbor in Key West. It%26#39;s got the best coral reefs.

Expensive but very worth it.

We were going to go snorkeling at John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo but unfortunately never got around to it. I believe you can take a trip out thru the park or various other independent boats and the cost was around $35.

Dry Tortugas looks awesome too, probably best if you are staying in Key West.

I like the boats from Pennekamp State Park because they are large and stable with lots of shade. In terms of off-shore spots near Islamorada, the best bet is Founders Park. There%26#39;s a rock wall adjacent to the sandy beach area that has some fish on it. You can also make the drive to Bahia Honda and do a little snorkelling there. But the best choice is to go out on a boat every day - that%26#39;s where you%26#39;ll see the reef and fish.
