Quiet Beachy Resort

We will be driving from Orlando to Naples and looking to have a few days en route on the coast. Can anyone help with suggestions for somewhere north of Tampa (an area we have not explored before) and if you can recommend some seafront accomodation too that would be great.

How far north of Tampa do you want to go? West of Tampa (but not north) are nice beaches in St. Petersburg and Clearwater/Sand Key. In St. Pete I like the Don Cesar for accomodations.

Well, this is not about a place North of Tampa, but in response to the way you titled your post...you may enjoy the Wicker Inn on Longboat Key which would be on the coast between Tampa and Naples. You can take a look at:

Agree with GrandmaMac%26#39;s suggestion of Longboat Key (off of Sarasota), or Anna Maria or Siesta Key. Sarasota has some nice, and easily accessible attractions, without the traffic you%26#39;ll be seeing in Orlando or Naples -- e.g., Ringling Museum, Selby Botanical Gardens, Mote Aquarium, etc.

They have suites available on their own website

West of Tampa are the Pinellas County Beaches (St. Pete Beach, Clearwater, Treasure Island and others) all of these are nice beach vacation destinations.

North of Tampa on the coast, not sure where you mean exactly, but that area is called the Nature Coast (Homasassa, Weeki Wachee, Crystal River) and is not known for wonderful, sandy beaches, more for fishing, boating, manatees.

Well, you have several options:

West of Tampa, but near I-275 and Skyway bridge:

Pinellas County: There are about 10 beach towns along the sea that are all nice and have a wide range of services. I would check out St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach, and Clearwater Beach. The drive is about 1 hour from Tampa and about 2 1/2 from Orlando (Disney area).

Northwest of Tampa:

Tarpon Springs: Small greek city on the Alafaya Bayou. Not a beach place, but loads of fun Shops, restaurants, small town feel (very much like Greece in my opinion), and museums. Probably a better day trip though than a place to stay at. Around 45 minutes from Tampa or Pinellas Beaches.

South of Tampa:

Siesta Key %26amp; Longboat Key: BOth West of Sarasota. Very nice beaches, more upscale than Pinellas County. Same type of shops, restaurants as most Florida towns.

Venice Beach:

Similiar to the rest of the beaches, but there are loads of fosilized shark teeth that people comb through the sand for. Fun.

Email or message me for more info.

Lwc da,

Mike
