Residence Inn-Downtown

Has anyone stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown Tampa lately? Any feedback would be great as the reviews that are on the site are a little outdated :)

Thanks!

Supershopper,

I%26#39;m bumping this up as I see that nobody has replied. I have never stayed at this hotel, sorry.

Three of the most recent reviews are from Feb. 2007, though, and seemed to be positive. Their complaints seemed to be about the location. It is very close to Channelside District, though, which has several shops, restaurants, bars (but I would drive, take a cab, or hotel shuttle). There are a few good restaurants downtown (Fly for one), but there isn%26#39;t a lot in ';walking distance';. Downtown Tampa is not very lively at night/weekends, but you are a quick drive away from a lot of hot spots.

If you have found a good price, this hotel should be fine.

Thank you for the feedback. The rate is very good and staying in a touristy type place it%26#39;s nice to have the mini-kitchen option :)

Really what I will be doing is shopping with friends and going into Ybor City. The Saturday maket sounds like fun! So, I think I should be ok there.

The hotel says they have a free shuttle to take me to a Publix for groceries and there is a Wal Mart some what close by if I need to take a taxi.

Embassy Suites was another option. Is that in the same area?

The cost is $269 a night, which is kind of pricey. But a do realize that it%26#39;s a new property. And feedback about that hotel?

Thanks again fsufan!

The Embassy Suites is pretty new, so it should be very nice. It%26#39;s location is a little better than Residence Inn Downtown as the trolley picks up right outside of the hotel. This can take you to Channelside (which is also walkable) and Ybor City. Most of the negative reviews seem to be about valet parking.

It is newer, so that is a plus. Personally, I would stay at the Embassy suites which is on the streetcar line which can take you to bor and Channelside.

Or, from your other post, stay in Ybor, which would be equally fun and probably a little cheaper.

Lwc da,

Mike

The Residence Inn is nice. It%26#39;s on the north end of downtown near the Performing Arts Center.
