Sugarloaf Lodge

Would you recommend this place for families? Want to be close enough to Key West but also far enough away for some R%26amp;R.

Sugarloaf Lodge

This is a very small place with 1 restaurant on site. We did not stay there due to how rude the lady was when I started asking questions about how much hurricane damage they had. She didn%26#39;t want to tell me but finally said they had to tear down all the units that had kitchenettes as they were not repairable. We stay in Key Colony in Marathon which is about 2 1/2 hours north of Key West. There is also a Days Inn %26amp; a Quality Suites on the north end of Key West that are pretty decent. You will not be in walking distance of duval so you will be away from the night life on that end.

Also check www.vrbo.com you might find something on there close enough for you.

I%26#39;m guessing that brnwithwheel miss posted, but if it takes them 2 1/2 hours to get from Key West to Marathon, they are either getting lost, taking thier time, or stopping for lunch. ;-)

If we drive straight through, its about an hour drive.

I haven%26#39;t been to Sugarloaf lodge in many years so I can%26#39;t speak to that. But a similar place for you to check out is Parmers Place. It is closer to Key West than Marathon but has a laid back feel and is great for families.

Buffetguy is right, only an hour to Key West from Marathon. Also agree, Parmers Place over Sugarloaf Lodge.
