Pelican Grand Beach Resort

We have booked an ocean view room for 4 nights in April at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fll through Expedia. Among the recent TA reviews on the hotel I noticed The Sun Tower which seems to be an old annex(?) of the resort. That is certainly not what I was looking for when I booked 3 months ago. Should I be worried about our accomodation or would the hotel or Expedia inform you beforehand which building you will be assigned to?

I think that when you booked the hotel it would have said in the description that it was in the Sun Tower. The rooms in the Sun Tower are considerably lower in price. Rather than worry about it I would call or email the hotel. I have listed the contact info below

Toll-free: (800) 525-OCEAN

Phone: (954) 568-9431

Fax: (954) 565-2622

Email:info@pelicanbeach.com

Please note: The toll-free phone number for Pelican Grand Beach Resort operates in the U.S. and Canada.

I would definitely inquire to the hotel. From reading past posts here, it appears that folks who book through second parties and discounters rather than directly from the hotel are often assigned there. Does your confirmation clearly state what kind of accomodation you have booked?

Thank you both for your replies. I just called the resort and they assure me that we are in the ';new'; building. They said that the Sun Tower was only used for overflow. I guess that means when they are busy and have last minute reservations.

You did the right thing calling and finding out for sure. I hope you have a great time and post a review when you get back.

I think the 28 stack has the best rooms in the Pelican because you have both an ocean view looking south and a view of the city lights at night. Keep in mind that at night a straight ocean view is pretty much just black.

I%26#39;ve never heard of the ';28 stack';. Is that another name for the newer resort? The reason we chose the oceanview room was because of the reasonable price,(especially around Easter), for what looks to be a very nice hotel. In fact, the price went up by about 75.00/night last week and now there are no rooms available. We will be there pre-cruise so I hopefully we will have lots of great ';oceanviews';!

Aalee-

I think by 28 stack he means the rooms with ending numbers in 28, 328, 428, 528, etc.

These would be in the new building.

I just have to gush about the ammenities at the Pelican Grand Beach resort. The restraunt/bar area is fantastic. The pool area complete with Lazy River tube ride is a hit with both kids and adults, and their rocking chairs on the deck overlooking the ocean are a great way to start or end your day. Great choice of place to stay!

Mediaspree said it all ... and, unlike so many Fort Lauderdale hotels that are across A1A, it%26#39;s right on the beach.

Woops! A little slow here on the ';28stack';! Just never heard that before. But thanks for the heads up. It%26#39;s great to hear good things from you guys on the resort because right after I booked I started seeing pretty mixed reviews. I considered switching to The Pillars but our 12 yr. old daughter will be with us so The Pelican seemed like a more family friendly choice.
