any hotel suggestions since last night sold out...

Hi,

Was trying to book with Best Western Hibiscus or Southernmost for our trip but both are sold out the last night. Any suggestions for similar decent hotel in similar location with similar prices? We wanted to be able to walk to Duval but have some relaxation too. The Island City House has ';side street studios'; available. Are those pretty noisy at night? Thanks for the help.

Could you elaborate a bit more about your visit? What dates and days are you visiting and what is your price range? Are you adverse to changing hotels for the last day? A lot of folks here will be able to help with a bit more info.

The Island City House is on the other side of the Island 1.3 mile from the south side. Try the Blue Marlin it gets mixed reviews but you will be there only one night.

The Blue Marlin was OK last time I stayed there I have booked again for April. The pool is in the middle of the parking lot but is raised up - not as nice a pool area as the others you have chosen. From personal experience if we have booked the Southernmost for our stay and then asked to extend for another night they have usually said that they are booked up but would give us priority oif they got a cancellation. You could always make that request and book somewhere with a cancellation policy for your last night. That way if the Southernmost come up with the goods you caould cancel the other hotel/motel.

thanks for the suggestions. i wasn%26#39;t sure of blue marlin b/c of the mixed messages. we are driving to key west and will be there the last week in april (mon-fri) and were trying to stay in the $150 range. island city house is actually fully booked for that night as well anyway. we are not adverse to switching hotels b/c the other hotels seem markedly more expensive so it would be hard to do those for the whole week. but we could possibly do something for one night if needed. so am i correct in seeing that the construction at southernmost is done?

Try Key West Wicker House. I%26#39;ve stayed there and it is very nice.

They helped me find lodging for our first night of our vacation. They were very nice and helpful. Call them 1st thing in the morning, I think their hours are 8:00 or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. By calling in the morning they may be able to get back to you by the evening. Calling them will certainly save you time and effort. They do the work for you. Oh yeah and best yet it%26#39;s a free service.

thanks again for the good tips. the 2 guesthouses mentioned above sounded good too. one is a little out of price range and the other seems to have cats around which is not good for my allergies! :) ended up when i called the bw hibiscus and southernmost directly they had rooms available for my dates (although bw%26#39;s price was higher on the phone). any thoughts on which is better? also...these hotels are in reasonable walking distance to duval, right? we aren%26#39;t die-hard partiers so don%26#39;t need to be super-close but still want to get to the fun. and are there markets and/or restaurants closer to these hotels if we want to grab breakfast away from the hotel? thank you!

From both Hotels you can get to Duval Street in a few min. walk. Problem is you are 1.3 miles from the more active end.

The Southernmost is probably the nicest with the use of three pools and a pier which goes out into the ocean. It has a tikki bar which sells limited breakfast items. It is usually more expensive than the Best Western Hibiscus. I have stayed there loads of times but don%26#39;t anymore because the last time I stayed there I had issues with the attitude of some of the staff members. The BWH is a smaller motel with larger rooms than most of those at the Southernmost. It has a smaller pool and deck area but serves a limited continental breakfast which is included in the price. I feel that the Southernmost has got too pricey these days. However the Southernmost hotel on the Beach appear to be very nice I have used the pool there but they do not have a bar but I think that that is more expensive than the main complex. You would have to be very picky to be disappointed with either of your choices. However you must remember that Key West has a large feral cat and chicken population and you may find cats and chickens roaming where ever you choose to stay or eat and drink for that matter.
