less expensive hotel for night before cruise

Can anyone recommend a hotel in the Fort Lauderdale area that would be good for the night before a cruise? We are looking for a less expensive hotel that offers a airport shuttle.

Your best bets may be out on State Road 84 , which is also known as SW 24 St. The best motels there are the Holiday Inn Express or the Hampton Inn, but if they are out of your price range , you can check the Ramada Inn or Best Western. Avoid the Rodeway Inn or Red Carpet Inn which are horrible. You can also look at the Sleep Inn in Dania Beach ( south of the Airport) or the Days Inn in Hollywood , also south of the Airport. The La Quinta on Sheridan Street in Hollywood is also a possibility but may also be a bit more expensive than you would like.

All should provide free shuttle to/from the Airport and Port Everglades. Hotels/motels in this area are quite expensive in comparison to some other markets- don%26#39;t try to go too inexpensive or you may end up in a bad situation- as some folks have learned at Red Carpet and Rodeway .

Amerisuites on SE 17th Street is near airport and cruiseport, and offers shuttle service. For a pre-cruise night it is acceptable. Nothing fancy and getting ready to be renovated. Keeping this in mind, if you get a room that you don%26#39;t like, they will move you to a different room. I have stayed here and put my parents up here for 2 nights, the reviews are hit or miss on this hotel.

Place needs an update (its coming) but it%26#39;s quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is included but get their early, people tend to ';abuse'; the free breakfast privilege and fill up their handbags with muffins.
