St Patrick's Day

Hi All:

We%26#39;ll be coming down over St Pats, and were just wondering if there were any special events going on; We%26#39;re coming from NEPA and are used to a big deal on St. Patricks, just not sure what to Expect in KW.

Any info is helpful.

Thanks

St Patrick's Day

St Pats is a big party here, just less Irish-centric, more like an excuse (as if one is needed) to go party on the town.

The two big spots, Finnegan%26#39;s Wake Street Festival (big party) and off the beaten path is Shanna Key Irish Pub on Bertha and Flagler (very locals).

The biggest most insane spot is Irish Kevin%26#39;s on Duval, next to Sloppy Joes. Strictly for professionals-style partying. FYI

St Patrick's Day

Well, it%26#39;s the only time of year that Irish Kevin%26#39;s is actually Irish. :-)

Finnigan%26#39;s wake in Old Town and Shanna Key in New Town are the hot spots for the day. There%26#39;s also the Celtic Heathens playing at SWB. The traditional Pub Crawl through the exceedingly target rich enviroment of Duval street. In general, we%26#39;ll be drinking whereever we find ourselves and warmly invite everyone else to join us!

how early do the festivities begin at irish kevin%26#39;s?

Even when it%26#39;s not St. Pat%26#39;s day, Irish Kevin%26#39;s gets going by 11am. It%26#39;s a big cavernous touristy bar, that gets some good entertainment; so St. Pat%26#39;s should be a lot of fun early until late.

this will be my 4th trip to key west. the last three have been for new years. this is my first for st. patty%26#39;s. is it comparable to new years?

hi there.... Where in NEPA are ya? Im in Cleveland and the ma and I will be camping down there over St. Pattys Day weekend...... maybe us midwesterns will bump into each other...... I know how we do it up here for St. Patricks Day, I hope the party is even better down there.......

we are staying on big pine key. most likely we will be at irish kevin%26#39;s most of the day. that is actually why we are coming down. that, and to get out of this weather! look for a pale guy with a ND hat on and a green guinness t-shirt.

Coming from Pittston, about 10 miles from the big parade in Scranton. Last I checked, we were 3rd in size in the USA (something tells me we might be a bit smaller this year). I%26#39;ve done the parade from all aspects; marched in it, drank around it, watched it from the side, with the kids, and now watching my kids march in it.

We%26#39;ll look for you in KW: just look for the bunch of us with REALLY big smiles on our faces, thinking of all our poor friends wallowing in the remaining snow and cold here at home.

jtv147 - Having grown up in Peckville, I know the St. Paddy%26#39;s day events in your area very well. I can tell you that Scranton has (or had) the biggest parade and all around party around. Key West%26#39;s events are less about being Irish and more about having yet another excuse for a big party weekend. It%26#39;ll be a lot of fun, but less authentic than in NEPA. Go with the flow and enjoy yourself in KW. Bonus: It will be a helluva a lot warmer than in Pittston.

You%26#39;re just ';up da line, Haina?'; Or at least you were. LOL

We don%26#39;t expect to party much in KW (haven%26#39;t even done much up here since college days) but expect to have a good time anyway. We%26#39;ll only be in KW 1 day (Friday or Saturday) and just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks everyone for the input.
