Has anyone stayed here recently? We are interested in staying there two nights in March. It looks great on the internet but the reviews back in the summer of 2006 on tripadvisor sound terrible. Please let me know if this is an okay place to stay. It%26#39;s just my husband and I and we want to be on the beach. We definitely want a clean, safe place with an enjoyable breakfast. We%26#39;ll have a rental car so we can get around. Can anyone check it out for me?
A Little Inn By The Sea
I haven%26#39;t stayed there but it looks poorly maintained to me from driving by. There are lots of little Mom and Pop places like that who have sold to developers and others seem to just be waiting for the opportunity , without wanting to expend funds to keep their places nice. I was up that way a week or so ago and didn%26#39;t think it looked very nice.
A Little Inn By The Sea
Oh, no. I thought I had read on tripadvisor forum that it was okay. Do you think we should look for something else? We would like to spend about $150.00 per night.
I would not hesitate to stay there.We stop in to check it out every year and have always found it to be one of the better places to stay.Very charming atmosphere.Free breakfast buffet if I remember correctly.The parking is a little starnge but adds to the quaintness and charm.It is situated where someone without a renal car would be just fine.Just steps to several restaurants,bars,shops,ice cream,sightseeing pier,supermarket,burgerking etc.As far as staying there,as long as nothing has changed recently,I would highly recommend it.You may have trouble getting one of the better situated rooms because they have many of the same families staying there year after year and make their reservations a year in advance to get the beachfront rooms.
Mulligans - when was the last time you checked it out? Will you be by there within the next few days, by chance? Have you ever gone in there and actually seen a room? I appreciate any help you can give me. Maybe it is always this way - that there are mixed reviews on tripadvisor.
We were there last Feb and checked the whole place out .We are always looking for a substitute place to stay because hotels in this area are here one minute and gone the next so we are always looking for a back up.We will be in town again next week and will take another look.
Well, I%26#39;ll be more than happy to yield to Mulligan%26#39;sexpertise if he has been inside, as I have only done a drive by-hopefully he will take a good look and report back next week- HOWEVER-something is going on either there or at the small motel next door- there is one of those POD storage modules parked in the parking lot out front and behind it a big construction dumster full of boxes and debris- and in the parking lot of Little Inn there are a couple of what look to be very old bathroom vanities with broken doors just abandoned in the parking area. It%26#39;s very unsightly. I don%26#39;t know if they are rremodeling or what is happening. Also can%26#39;t tell if it is for Little Inn or the building to the north as it is parked between them but the bathroom debris definitely is just haphazardly left in the front of Little Inn Also, just so you know , the parking is limited and people have to park one behind the other - there is a large sign posted outside telling you that- apparently, according to a review I read somewhere they make you leave your car keys in a rack in theoffice so your car can be moved to let the car in front of you out if necessary. I%26#39;m not sure I%26#39;d like that - although i guess it is sort of valet parking- kind of...
Will be interesting to see if Mulligan can shed any light on what it is all about- I really have no opinion on the other hotels - all of them are Mom and Pop places and all have mixed reviews.
Thanks for replying and for your help. Mulligans, please let me know what you find out about A Little Inn By the Sea when you are in the area next week. Do you think you will be stopping in to look around and looking at a room or just driving by?
We will be in town the 8th thru the 20th and we take a run every morning past there .We check it out every year anyway so no problem.Why dont you email me at mako6189@hotmail.com to remind me to give you an update.We usually play catchup for at least a week after we get back from vacation so a reminder may be necessary.If you are too impatient to wait until we return(I would be) you should call the place and ask some direct questions.Lulutoo makes a good observation with fixtures and debris taking up what little parking space they have,something may be up ?? this is common in that area.One day the place is open and no vacancies and the next day a large developer offers them a rediculous amount of money for the place so he can put up a 30 story luxury condo hi rise where a 1 bedroom units start at 500k..It stinks for the area but you cant blame the owners of the mom and pop motels because they are now set for life without another financial worry in the world.I hope the place is going strong because I really like it there.
This motel is not a motel I would recommend. It is old and not well maintened.
I would suggest The Dolphin or Croton Arms. Owner or Manager are way nicer and these 2 motels are clean.
A lot of motels in the area are old and owners are just waiting to be bought.
sincerely
Well, this ';little Inn'; is still showing up in ';Frommer%26#39;s Florida from $70 a day, 5th Edition'; as ';highly recommended.';
