which resort is nicer?

I am exchanging my RCI timeshare to stay in Orlando next April. I have a choice to trade to Cypress Pointe Resort or Sheraton Vistana Resort. Both are minutes from the parks. Both look great. Can anyone help me decide which?

which resort is nicer?

Welcome to the Trip Advisor forums! I hope you get the info you%26#39;re looking for. First, if you haven%26#39;t checked the user reviews for both properties on Trip Advisor yet, go ahead and do that.

A few points:

1. Cypress Pointe Resort is very close to a grocery store, within walking distance as well. Sheraton Vistana Resort is not within walking distance of a grocery store, though a Walgreens is very close.

2. Cypress Pointe is within walking distance of a number of restaurants. Sheraton is within walking distance of a few, though not as many as Cypress Pointe realistically.

3. Sheraton Vistana Resort is convenient to the World Center Blvd entrance to Disney (World Center Drive is a little south of the resort), which I believe is the most convenient way to enter the Disney property.

4. Sheraton Vistana Resort is a larger resort than Cypress Pointe Resort/Grandvillas.

5. The newer units at Sheraton would probably be nicer than the newer ones at Cypress Pointe. However, there are some older units at Sheraton that aren%26#39;t necessarily that great; read the Sheraton Vistana Resort reviews and you%26#39;ll see some reference to that, as well as in older forum posts.

6. Sheraton Vistana Resort is closer to Orlando Premium Outlets, a popular outlet mall which is also a forum favorite.

It can be a very long walk from one part of the Sheraton Vistana to the other. There is a convenience store on site to buy, say, milk, but it might be a logn walk back to your villa.

We stayed at Vistana last time and we liked it a lot. It was great. It is huge, though.

My son would say ';Sheraton Vistana has full size basketball courts and Cypress Pointe only has a half size court'; but we just know this from the pictures - we are staying at Cypress Pointe later this month, so I can%26#39;t do a direct comparison. Good luck!

And one thing I forgot: Sheraton Vistana is closer to Wal-Mart Super Center on 535 than Cypress Pointe, as it is south of Sheraton Vistana. But I don%26#39;t think its within realistic walking distance.

One thing to watch for; the gas stations right by Sheraton Vistana Resort tend to be about 30 cents higher than the going rate for gas in Orlando. There%26#39;s also one closer to Cypress Point just south of the Disney entrance from 535 that runs about 50-60 cents higher than the going Orlando rate. There is a Hess by the Wal-Mart I just mentioned that is much cheaper, and also there are onsite Disney gas stations run by Hess which are cheaper as well.

We stayed at Cyress Pointe last year over our Spring break (mid March) and we really liked it. The accomodations were really nice and the property was close to hiway access and all kinds of stores etc...The condo%26#39;s are good size and the furniture was in really good condition and nothing was dirty. We are checking into the Vistana resort next this coming Saturday (March 17th) and I hope we like it. I have read good and bad things. I thought if a non owner was lucky enough to get the newer sections (Lakes or Cascades) then you would have it made, but I have seen some negative posts lately about those sections as well. You have to remember that sometimes people are more likely to post negative things than good so it ends up looking like no one likes the property when in fact you are only reading about the bad experiences. I also think some folks just expect a WHOLE LOT when they vacation. I hope you like your stay at either place.
