Current PCBeach Vs. old

I have gone to PC Beach since around %26#39; 77 with my parents, and carried my own family in the early-mid %26#39;90%26#39;s. I remember the old Petticoat Junction amusement park (Super Walmart Parking lot), Miracle strip park, the old Haunted house (Alvins Island), and much more. What changes have been made in the last 10 years, or more yet, what is gone? We are considering going back in June, and are wondering what to expect since everything has undergone a major remodel/rebuild. Doug

Hi dg68

Instead of writing a book (seriously..... one could be written haha) on all the changes that have taken place and are continuing to take place (because so much has changed since your last visit) here is a website that has some updates www.pcbeach.org click on Economic Development then click Lodging Redevelopment for all of the motels that have been torn down and what is or has taken there place. Miracle Strip is gone but Shipwreck Island remains atleast for now. Spinnakers %26amp; Club LaVela are still around too.

Wrong website sorry! Go to www.pcbfla.org.

Obviously one of the biggest changes you%26#39;re going to see is all the old mom and Pop hotels are gone and huge high rise Condos are coming up left and right. But one thing I really noticed is how much St Andrew%26#39;s Park has changed. About 5 or 6 yrs ago one of the hurricanes that it the Gulf prepositioned the Jetties and the flat area where everyone snorkles is different.

We;ve been going to PCB every year since 1982 and amazed every year at how much it changes. Some for the good....some I%26#39;m not so sure about.

Look forward to seeing more comments here..........

is the sun glo still thre?

Karen

was at state park this past summer and kiddie pool getting back to it%26#39;s old self...still shallow...still snorkeling...some of the rocks seem a bit lower but there is not sand covering the whole pool like it was after the hurricane

changes.....anyplace that is on the water is now condo...grew up there, my mom lives there...seen lots of changes since 1963 when i moved there...st andrews marina...condos...holiday lodge...condos...magnolia beach..condos...i just hope they don%26#39;t ruin the bay like they have parts of the beach with nothing but high rises...guess that is progress and to be honest, a lot of the older hotels and beach houses should have been torn down long ago, but not sure what i like better...the old or the new

i can see where the coin comes from to back the development, but who has the coin to buy a 300k shoe box condo as a 2nd home...if they can afford it, i wish i knew what they did for i made a bad career choice.....a lot of the development not on the beach (grand lagoon, st andrews bay, etc) is old money panama city...been owned by the same folks forever...guess now was the time to develop it

south walton has changed a lot too...used to be only seagrove and that was it...the locals used to go to the beach there for it was very secluded...not anymore...st joe paper devolped all that (and other parts of FL) when they got into the real estate business

bbgm--I don%26#39;t remember the Sun Glo but it;s not on my map.

Thanks for info on St Andrews.....last year when we went it was pretty flat which is great for little ones. My kids are older now and like the waves so we don%26#39;t go much anymore.
