Have a great trip! Yes, the coast road would be full of traffic lights and take forever- and besides you%26#39;ll see lovely water views on your way down. The first hour or so south of Florida City is pretty boring , but it soon becomes beautiful.

As you travel south on US1 ( which folks also call the Overseas Highway) once you get to Florida City, see if you can spot the little ';mile marker '; signs along the road- that is how everyone finds restaurants and etc.

At mile marker 77, after you come over a bridge, you will see a ramshackle place with a big sign called Robbies. It would be a great place to stretch your legs and see an amazing sight. For $1 pp you are allowed on their docks to see giant fish called tarpon which swim around there. I think they charge an additional $2 for a bucket of herrings to feed them. We didn%26#39;t do that as it was just as much fun to watch kids doing that.

I know you will love the Keys- we go down frequently and always have a great time!
