Disney - recommend romantic restaurant & May crowds? Thx :0)

I am going to Disneyworld for one week beginning 5 May with my boyfriend. We are staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This is both of our first time to Disney. I have the following questions:

What are the crowds like at this time of year?

Can anyone recommend restaurants not full of kids for nice evening meal? And are priority seating essential?

Thanks very much! :0)

Crowds in May are ususally not too bad. You won%26#39;t be alone, but it won%26#39;t be packed to capacity either.

There are several choices for dining at Disney in a romatic fashion. The ultimate is Victoria %26amp; Alberts at the Grand Floridian.

Some others might be California Grill at Contemporary, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, Boma or Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

These all do require priority seating and reservations may be necessary to be able to get in (walkups are often turned away).

Here%26#39;s more information about dining at Disney at this website:

Wow thanks for the speedy reply. I will take a look at that website. Can you please let me know if there is a difference between priority seating and reservations? Please excuse my ignorance! If so please can you let me know how they work.

Thanks

No difference really, I don%26#39;t think.

Priority seating simply means you have to have a reservation to get in.

In our experience Disney always says they don%26#39;t take ';reservations'; but use ';priority seating'; instead. Personally I think it%26#39;s so if there%26#39;s ever a problem that terminology is easier for them to back out of than a ';guaranteed'; table but we%26#39;ve never had a problem with priority seating ever.

If you are willing to spend the money, you can%26#39;t beat Victoria and Albert%26#39;s. We ate their a few years ago and will never forget it. On our last trip (last week) we tried the California Grill and it is a very nice experience. If you go make sure to make reservations during the fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

Priority seating in disneyspeak means they do not reserve a table for you and you alone-but you get the next table available when you show up at the appointed time. PRs are absolutely essential for any table service restaurant-the popularity of the Disney dining plan has removed most of the spontaneity of being able to ';reserve'; at the last minute.

Victoria and Albert%26#39;s is the ultimate in romantic experiences but it is very expensive. Very expensive-and probably booked for May. And it%26#39;s hard to find any other Disney restaurants not full of kids at any time.We like Narcoosees at the Grand Floridian and Jiko is also terrific. The California Grill is not what it once was, more of a get em in and get em out atmosphere. Flying Fish is very pretty and good food.

I go often at this time of year;the crowds are not at their peak but they are pretty heavy and it is hot so plan in advance and use Fast Pass whenever you can.

I think you will like the AKL very much-it is our favorite Disney hotel and we rarely spend the money to stawy there. But this is a special place.

Hi Lisa:

Disney has now changed the term to reservations.

One of our fave places to go is the Portobello Yacht Club at Downtown Disney. There are not a lot of kids there, it is very upscale, and the prices start at about $25 per person without wine/and or drinks.

They are open late, we usually go about 10:30pm after the fireworks at Epcot.

Whatever you decide, have fun!

Lisa

Thanks everyone for the advice. I can%26#39;t wait to go! Only 54 days!
