I have found what sounds like a wonderful unit to rent at the Windsor Hills resort in Orlando, but the only way to pay is with a money order or cashiers check. I am feeling a little nervous and would like any advise on how I can check whether they are the real owners of the unit. (the unit does exist at Windsor Hills) and that this is not a scam. Does anyone have the number for Windsor Hills management company or someone else I could check with

and put in the owners name you have and it will come up with the address of the unit and the owners home address and it should tie up with what you know

I%26#39;ve never seen a bad word said by anyone who has stayed at Windsor Hills. I don%26#39;t know how previous vacationers have paid, maybe some will chime in. Are you being asked to pay everything up front before you even arrive?
As the homeis privately owned it is usual for the owner to ask for full payment upfront as they won%26#39;t have the chance to re sell the tie if there is a no show -an agency usually doesn%26#39;t mind that happening as the homes aren%26#39;t theirs anyway and they don%26#39;t pay the bills.
The only negative thing I have heard about WH is from a friend who has recently come back and said they had a spate of break ins evenb though it was gated .
I%26#39;m not going to tell you that it%26#39;s a scam, but it%26#39;s unusual for a reputable company to insist on such payment methods.
Windsor Hills is a rcommunity and almost certainly has a variety of properties run by many property management companies.
A reputable company would accept Visa/Mastercard etc..
My advise on this one is stay clear.
I can recommend some houses if you change your mind Payable in UK STERLING, by credit card. This by the way was not a ploy to get some business.
I%26#39;ve dealt with several reputable companies that take credit cards for deposits only and most owner direct rentals I%26#39;ve done in many places in the US and Caribbean take no credit cards, but they are becoming more popular where currency exchanges are involved. Both owners and agents sometimes charge a %26#39;processing fee%26#39; that offsets what they loose in fees to the banks when a credit card is used. A money order or cashiers check is not at all uncommon when renting direct from owners especially when the issuing bank is not in the EU/US/Canada.
Most individual owners cannot afford the cost involved in taking Credit Cards so cashiers check money orders ,direct payment to banks or personal cheques are the only way.If you are happy with the rental price and the fact that the people you are dealing with own the unit they I don%26#39;t think you have anythng to worry about.
