Honeymoon state park beach and Sand Key beach

Going mid April and staying at the Days Inn central-want to be close to the beach and downtown Tampa-beach during the day and the clubs at night time. First timer and just decide to go now-got a round trip plane ticket non-stop for $115 so I had to buy it, ha ha. Will be renting a car at the airport so I am free to go when and where I like.

Been looking at the maps and the park guides and both beaches sound very nice. Think its $5 a car at Honeymoon park and 75 cents every hour at Sand Key. How at Sand Key park does that work, do I need to run back every hour to feed the parking meters or can I put like $4 in it for 5 hours ? Does it take bills or should I bring lots of quarters ? Thought about staying at a beach hotel for 1 or 2 nights-going for 4 but the $150-$300+ price was too much for me and the night life sounds better in Tampa. Any tips or ideas where to have lunch while at the beach-can you leave Honeymoon park for lunch and not have to pay again to get back in? Would like more than hot dogs so grilling at the park is out. I can do that here, want to get that fresh sea food and try places I never been to. Thanks so much.

Honeymoon state park beach and Sand Key beach

I have been to both beaches. I love Sand Key (getting married there in 2 months). They have the parking meters that take change, not dollar bills, however, they do have a machine on your way into the beach that you can change your dollar bills into change. I always put in enough for 5 hours and if I stay longer (which I normally do) then yes I just go put more $ in. Its quite a hike from the parking lot down to the water so make sure you put enough in so you don%26#39;t have to walk back and forth.

Honeymoon Island I haven%26#39;t been to in a few years, but I know I paid to get in, but again I stay at the beach for like 7 or so hours so I never had to worry about coming in and out so I am not sure if you get a ticket where you don%26#39;t have to pay again or not. I usually bring a cooler with sandwhiches/drinks/snacks.

As for food, on Sand Key not really any food. There is a little strip plaza across the street from the beach (not walking distance) that has a good pizza joint that I like. I also like to hang at the tiki hut at the Marriott for a couple daquiris (right on the water). But for restaurants you will probably have to drive over to Clearwater, I personally like The Post and Gondalier restaurants. I cant%26#39; really help you much with seafood as I don%26#39;t eat it, but I hear Frenchy%26#39;s is pretty good (again in Clearwater).
