First timers to St. Pete- Questions for you experts

Hi! We are a married couple in our mid- 20%26#39;s and would like to visit St. Pete.

First of all would we most likely want to stay on the beach or in the city? Any reccomendations for nice affordable hotels?

Also, What are some ';must-sees';? We definately want to se the Dali museum.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

In no particular order, things to do:

Visit Fort de Soto and the park

Drive down south via Bradenton, and Anna Maria Island to Sarasota for the day

Drive north to Tarpon Springs and visit the Greek village

Go for brunch at John%26#39;s Pass

Drive over the Sunshine Skyway to the Prime Outlets at Ellenton for shopping

Visit the Sunken Gardens in St Petersburg

Visit the Dali Museum

Wander round the shops and galleries at Pass-a-Grille south end of St Pete

Go to the cinema at the Beach Theater on Corey Avenue

Visit Ybor City in Tampa. or Channelside, for clubs, bars etc.

Pick up the free magazines and guides in the hotels for more suggestions and money off coupons.

This is from a post I put on the St Pete Beach forum recently, you may find further information there.

You would probably be better off staying at the beach and there is a wide range of hotels from the expensive Don Cesar to much smaller ones.

Also have a look at my St Pete Beach Dining Inside Page.

I have stayed in a number of hotels on the beach, the Alden Resort was reasonable and comfortable, others like the Tradewinds resorts.

Have a look at some of the reviews on here, any specific questions, please post again.

The Art Museum (separate organization than Dali) is small, nice and manageable.

Also have a leisurely lunch in the luxury of the Vinoy Hotel, a wonderful landmark.

If Dali is your cup of tea then the Florida State Art museum is a must see. Ever seen a real Reubens? add the Ringling Museum of Art to your list on the trip to Sarasota.
