';CARES'; airplane seat system for kids

Has anyone heard of this or used it yet? It is FAA approved for children instead of lugging their car seats onto the plane. It is a system of straps, and only weighs 1 pound. Looking for advice on whether to shell out the 75 bucks, or just carry my 40 pound carseat everywhere with us.

I%26#39;d like some feedback on this as well. I have a two year old and was wondering if I had to bring a carseat or if he could just sit in the seat on the plane? Thinking about this as an option as well.

I don%26#39;t know about ';Care'; but you can put the 2 year old in a seat as long as you pay for that seat (same as an adult ticket) and if the child is under 2 they can fly for free as long as they sit in your lap.

I did pay for a seat. I%26#39;m just trying to find out if I have to bring his car seat or if he can sit in it without it.

Nicky,

Your 2 year old can sit in the airplane seat alone if you want him/her to. I am looking into the CARES system because my soon to be 5 year old is autistic and will NOT stay put in a seat. You can google it and get more info. I have not found anyone that has actually used it yet, though.
