getting from the Port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale beach

I am looking for advice on how to get to a Fort Lauderdale Beach hotel from the Port of Miami on Sunday March 25th post cruise. I have called many shuttles, but none actually bring you to the hotel, only back to the FLL airport and then there is another charge to the hotel. Anyone know the cost of a taxi for this trip??

getting from the Port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale beach

If you go to the Miami airport website, www.miami-airport.com, under ground transportation they have a 14 page list of shuttle services, limos, etc. You might also try calling your hotel, maybe they have a prefered service.

Also, have you thought about renting a car?

We took a taxi from Fort Lauderdale [sheraton trader] to port of miami in feb. it was about 80 dollars if thats any help to you.

I am also making this trip in April, Port of Miami Shuttle will cost about 64.00 for 2 people from the port directly to Ft Lauderdale hotel their # is 954-722-9904, I talked to a girl by the name of Karen who was very helpful.

SUper Walmart (or the like) on the way to Windsor Hills?

Hello! Only 13 days til we head to WDW! Our flight gets in late (1045p) at MCO. Is there a Super Walmart on the way to Windsor Hills, or are we better off packing some breakfast and hitting the store Sunday later? I was guessing the kids might fall asleep in the car on the way to WH and I could leave hubby and them in the lot and speed shop for a few items.

Thanks in advance!

SUper Walmart (or the like) on the way to Windsor Hills?

I would go the next day. There are two super wal-marts relatively close, but neither are really ';on the way'; from MCO to WH.

One is East on 192 just past Medieval Times.

The other is on US27, if you go west on 192 until it merges with the 27 %26amp; go north. This one is probably closer to WH.

SUper Walmart (or the like) on the way to Windsor Hills?

If your staying at Windsor Hills and you pass the turn to go toward Windsor Hills and go to the next light there is a Market Place grocery store there, they are more expensive than publix or Walmart, but its closer and if you just want to pop in for a couple of things it may be the easiest.

Also ask the home owner if you can get a welcome pack in the home. They are around $40.00 and they include juice, soda, milk water, bread butter, donuts, chips things like that. It may be worth considering.

There is also a Super Wal-Mart on 535 near Osceola Pkwy and the Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets. If taking 417 from the airport, you would get off at the 535 exit from 417, and the road you would be on after exiting is 536. Shortly after getting on 536, you would come to the red light intersection with 535. Take a left on 535, and about 3/4 of a mile to 1 mile on the right, you would see the Super Wal Mart. I don%26#39;t know if you can go back to the 417 exit to pick up 417 West (I know you can go eastbound), but you can take Osceola Pkwy West into Disney and go south on the main Disney Freeway to US 192, then take a right (west) on US 192 to Old Lake Wilson Rd.

Don%26#39;t know if I%26#39;d tackle Super Wal-Mart late at night though in an area I%26#39;m not intimately familiar with. But it is very convenient to your route from the airport if taking 417. If taking 528 instead, there%26#39;s a Wal-Mart on John Young Pkwy about 1 mile north of the 528.

If you want to go to a Walmart at that time, I presume it is for some light snack and stuff for breakfast the next day. The previous post mentioned that if you drive a little past the turnoff to WH on the 192, there is a Win-Dixie Supermarket on the left. A little further down the road is a Publix. At that time there is very little traffic so its not much of a detour.

Is the Market Place open 24 hours? If so, that would be a good option, otherwise, as late as you%26#39;re getting in, I wouldn%26#39;t depend on it. Though anything%26#39;s possible, I%26#39;ve never seen a Publix that didn%26#39;t close by 10 pm at the latest, at least in Orlando.

I%26#39;d ######### that you keep your bases covered and pack some breakfast before you go just in case. You may be wiped out when you get here.

Neither the Winn-Dixie or the Publix are 24 hours stores.

Thanks for the advice and directions. I think I%26#39;ll go ahead and pack some breakfast-y type things and we%26#39;ll hit the store Sunday after we go to the Hoop dee doo revue. I read about ordering from garden grocer. It looks convenient but the prices seemed very high.

Thanks again!

  • Getting to walmart- john young parkway

im staying at the rodeway inn on international drive (by wet nwild)

im just wondering do any of the bus services go anywhere near it?

Getting to walmart- john young parkway

DO you have to go to the one on the John Young? I believe the one on Kirkman is going to be closer.

Getting to walmart- john young parkway

no it doesnt have to be that one, i just looked on the site and thought it was the closest, its pretty much what one is closer and or easier to get to

    .

you would have to see if there was a buss service running east doen Sand Lake road as to stands on junction Sand

Lake Rd and John Young Parkway

You need to walk North on I-Drive a few blocks to the intersection of I-Drive and Kirkman Rd. Get on the first Lynx bus you see that comes along marked 37, it doesn%26#39;t matter if its a Northbound or Southbound Bus, route 37 goes to both Walmarts, the one on Kirkman road (Northbound) and the one on the John Young (Southbound).

Thanks, thats one more thing sorted out, ive got just under 3 weeks left and feel so unprepared even though ive already done loads of planning

    Ritz Carlton or Portofino Bay?

Just started looking into hotels for a girls night in Orlando (6 or 7 females in 30s). Our tentative plan is to drive over from Tampa early one Sat. morning, spend the day relaxing by pool, maybe have a spa treatment. Go out that night and head back to Tampa Sunday afternoon.

Leaning towards Portofino b/c of vicinity to CityWalk (I have never been). Looks like Ritz Carlton might be far away from any nightlife?

Also are there any Florida resident discounts at any hotels? Which months are cheaper?

Leaning toward month of August- Portofino is about $300/night while Ritz is about $200/night at that time.

    Thanks in advance!

    Ritz Carlton or Portofino Bay?

Have only stayed at the Ritz, cannot comment on Portofino. The Ritz is fabulous, 500 acre property connected with a JW Marriott. The Ritz Carlton Spa is incredible, 40,000 square of heaven! The spa has their own private huge lap pool (no kids allowed!) spa cafe, beautiful 2nd floor ladies only area with whirlpool, sauna, streamroom, relaxation area, and a huge menu of services, they have 42 treatment rooms! Spend a day at the spa and drive over to Citywalk. Unfortunately you are going on a Sat/Sun. The Ritz Spa offers 15% discounts to Florida residents Mon thru Thur on all their treatments. The hotel however is in a residential area, about 15minutes to Citywalk, personally think you might enjoy a night out with the girls in Winter Park, alittle bit more upscale and not so ';touristy';. Check the Ritz Carlton website and click on to the photo tour to see the spa...........:)

    Ritz Carlton or Portofino Bay?

Thanks bubba! How far is Winter Park from the Ritz? I%26#39;ll look into that! We%26#39;ll have cars, but was thinking about taking cabs where we went at night so that we could all have a few drinks.

Suggestions on the best and closest nightlife appreciated. Thanks!

    Without a doubt the Ritz!

On our last vacation, my husband and I spent two nights at the Portofino. The resort is really nice; beautiful Villa pool for relaxing by and great spa. The rooms are nice but not worth the price they charge. However, the convenience of having the water taxi take you to and from City Walk is worth the bucks. We spent the night partying at City Walk and then, stumbled to the taxi to bring us home.

something new in area since 2003???

Hi, I am from SC and we last visited CR March 2003,and plan on visiting again March 2007...just wanted to know if there were any new attractions? We have visited the area off and on since 1990 and love the area.My husband scuba dives but I do not...but I do love to see the manatees!! Hope the warmer weather have not driven them out yet??? We have visited most of the attractions that were there as of 03.Also want to hear if there are any new resturants. We will also be spending our anniversary there,so something quite and romantic would be nice.We stay most the time at Port Paradise because of the location mainly.Anything new right on the water?

    Thanks for any help,Rita

something new in area since 2003???

The Best Western and the Plantation Inn are both directly on the river and have pools. I prefer the Plantation Inn. There aren%26#39;t many romantic restaurants in town. You might consider Romano%26#39;s Italian restaurant. It is romantic inside and the food is delicious! A new seafood restaurant called Clawdaddys recently opened. We went there last week and it was fantastic! I%26#39;m a local so if you have more questions, just let me know.

something new in area since 2003???

Thanks Sunny7 for the info....Clawdaddys sounds interesting, may give it a try.Is it located on hwy 19? We went once out to Othello and loved the view and food,so may go there again for anniversary. We have been to several seafood restaurants to compare to our area at Myrtle beach.Have read about a rest.that serves cuban food that sounded interesting...I love black bean dishes!! Do you know if the Kings Bay Lodge has access to the water from the lodge? This is the main reason we like the Port pardise area, because of being able to go out to the water straight from the motel, even though we have not always loved the motel itself.Sometimes it has been VERY noisy!(we are an older couple). If you know of a web site to access most of the area, such as Chamber of commerce,I would appreciate it.Thanks again Sunny7,its great for a local to respond!! I truly appreciate it!!

You are very welcome! Yes, Kings Bay Lodge is right on the river and is a popular motel with folks bringing their own boats. Very clean. If you need more information, go to www.citruscountychamber.com

You must have went to Peck%26#39;s in Ozello. That is one of our favorites too! Cravings on the Water has the best cuban food here. IMO

Thanks again Sunny7,and yes it was Pecks in Ozello,I told you I was older!! ha ha Guess I had Shakespere on the brain or something!!

We cant wait to get there, ready for a warmer get-a-way!! Although it is suppose to be 70 here tomorrow!!! Just hope the manatees will not go away before we get there, which we are targeting for the first full week of March.Again ';thanks';....btw I love your screen name!!

I%26#39;ve just read about the manatee snorkling, and am thinking of coming down in a few weeks. My husband loves to fish. Are there lakes available where he could fish on his own, without taking a charter boat out? What else is available to do in CR besides snorkle with the manatees? Thanks.

Deep Sea Fishing Charter and directions best from Kissimmee

Who is a good successful charter and what is the best way from kissimme? I know there is a back road type way... off 192 go some back road country for like almost an hr takes you right there but forget the name ofg the road..thanks!

Deep Sea Fishing Charter and directions best from Kissimmee

Two come to mind, the Miss Cape Canaveral and the Ocean Obsession. Both have been in business for years.

The quick back road through the country from Kissimmee to Cape Canaveral that you%26#39;re probably thinking of is State Road 532, also known as Nova Road. To use this shortcut, you%26#39;ll take SR192 east from Kissimmee to just east of Saint Cloud. Turn left (North) on 532. This will take you to SR520, just west of Cocoa. Head east on SR520 a couple miles and then take SR524 east to SR528. Then go east on SR528 to the port. It is the quickest, most scenic, best route to take.
