Two come to mind, the Miss Cape Canaveral and the Ocean Obsession. Both have been in business for years.

Can anyone recommend some excellent seafood restaurants in the Fort Myers Area?

    Restaurants

Just stay away from Lighthouse Waterfront Restaurant. We were there over a week ago and the service was bad. We complained, but they did not care. Food was ok (we had higher expectations), portions small, prices $$. At this time of the year it is crowded, so there is no need for them to make guests feel welcome.

    Restaurants

Try the Prawn Broker!!! Locally owned and one of the BEST restaurants in Fort Myers!!!!!

I agree with the comments about the Lighthouse. Same experience we had. We really like the University Grill and also McTees on Sanibel, as well as Stonewood Grill and the Prawnbroker. Good food, service at these places. Larry (15 years in Ft. Myers area)

Thanks to everyone who answered my question about restaurants in the Fort Myers area. I really appreciated it!!!

  • Universal ticket deal for UK - valid in US?

Has anyone purchased the Universal ticket deal for UK residents but as a US resident?

They currently have the child ticket free with adult ticket purchase, plus an extra day free.

    universalorlando.co.uk/promo_free_kids.html

It appears they are letting me complete the purchase (haven%26#39;t clicked on the final ';submit'; yet). I wonder if anyone has used this deal without a problem?

The ticket details does say it is available to UK residents only, but I%26#39;ve put in my US address and it hasn%26#39;t rejected me yet.

I don%26#39;t want to scam, but darn it%26#39;s a good price!

Universal ticket deal for UK - valid in US?

I live in Pittsburgh and I called Universal yesterday and they said that I could use it. Let me know what happens when you submit it. I think you can purchase until April 2007. Do you know when the tickets have to be used by? I have 4 kids and it saves me over $100 doing that opposed to the $85 ticket. Let me know. Thanks

Universal ticket deal for UK - valid in US?

I put my order through and it worked fine. I won%26#39;t have my tickets in hand until I go to the electronic ticketing machine at the park, but I have my confirmation number and a receipt.

The website says the tickets are good until Dec 31, 2007.

It really is a good deal! Good luck.

    An update on my dilemma...

I sent an e-mail to Universal earlier today but did not wait for their reply before placing my order.

    I just got a response that says ';This offer is currently only available for guests with a valid UK photo id.';

If I am going to pick up my tickets at the electronic ticket machine, at what point are they going to ask for a photo ID? I can%26#39;t imagine the tickets will print saying they are for UK residents only? Do they check ID at the gate?

I guess we%26#39;ll find out! I hope I don%26#39;t have to buy another set of tickets at the gate. Yikes.

I will return from my trip the 3rd week in March, if anyone is interested in what the outcome is, please let me know and I%26#39;ll post an update.

I%26#39;m quite interested. I called Universal today and they said that the offer could be purchased by US residents. Did you try calling them. I think it%26#39;s crappy if they don%26#39;t extend the offer to US residents as well. A friend of mine is an attorney and said that it%26#39;s discrimination. Now I don%26#39;t know about that but just a thought. I would call them just to make sure. Let me know.

The tickets may work like they do for Florida Residence tickets, you have to take the ticket from the machine to guess services and they check your ID before you get the ticket, I%26#39;m not sure,if this is how it works I%26#39;m just guessing.

I have done it the other way around. As a UK resident with 2 kids over the age of 9 the 7 days unlimited for $85.99 was a better deal.

I bought them through southwest.com and I have just checked the confirmation e-mail. Nowhere does it say ID is required and it also does not have a %26#39;use by%26#39; date.....!

Will be interested in what happens to you when you collect your tickets.....

    Good luck

It would really suck to get there and find out you couldn%26#39;t use them. I would really call the number for tickets on the Universal webpage just to be on the safe side. I might even call them later today. If you call them let me know what they tell you.

The only problem with talking to people on the phone is that different people will give you different answers.

I called the online tickets number (407-224-7840) and was told I could not use this deal and would have to show a UK ID when I pick up the tickets.

She did say I could place a new order on the US site and then call back and they will cancel my UK purchase and refund my money.

I guess I have no choice but to do this but I still wonder if I could get away with this UK deal. At what point do I have to show ID? If the electronic ticket machine gives me my tickets, when do I show ID?

Can anyone explain how the electronic ticketing process works?

I would appreciate continued input! Thanks!

    Hey Nickybitty

I did the same thing as you .

I will just plead ignorance and say I found it on the web and didnt realise it wasnt for UK residence.

    getting to disney parks

when going to disney resort i will either be getting a cab or the number 50 lynx what i would like to know is

1 where does the lynx drop off

2 where can the cab drop you off is it just one area or can you be dropped off at a park?

    getting to disney parks

The Lynx #50 drops off at the Ticket and Transportation Center. From there you would take a bus or monorail (or if MK, you can use the Ferry) to the park of your choice (monorail only goes to Epcot or MK, of course).

    getting to disney parks

Cabs usually drop you off at the one area which is normally a section of the bus parking lot just outside the parks. I know this is true for MGM and Animal Kingdom so I imagine it%26#39;s the same for MK and Epcot. This will literally be a five minute walk to the park entrance. As for Universal, the cab drops you off at the bus parking lot in a section right next to the escalator which takes you up to City Walk.

Does that mean if i get a cab then i will not need to use the disney transportation system?

    .

when going to a disney resort ??????

From where. Are staying on a disney resort, or going to one.

Do you want to know how to get to a Disney Park from a Disney resort.

Im staying on international drive by wet n wild,

im going at easter and want to know where in disney a taxi would drop me off, can you get close to the parks?

I think the q has been answered - you are dropped off near the gates pretty much with a taxi (usually the parking lot). The only difference is MK where you%26#39;ll need to hop on the boat or monorail for the last part as only Disney bus transport takes you to the entrance (or close to). You can take monorail from MK to Epcot and you can also connect from Epcot to MGM via boat. AK is out on its own.

Some non Disney hotels do run shuttles but depends on location. I often think people should factor in the cost of taxis when booking hotels. For instance, if doing Disney more, a Hotel with free transport is worth a few extra bucks when you consider the price of taxis.

If you not driving you might find the shuttle buses from your hotel or close by much cheaper than Taxi%26#39;s. But their not as convenient. Some hotels dont charge for this service but others do.

These shuttle buses should drop you off at the relevant park you are going to without any other changes. But they do run to their time table.. Taxis from there to the Disney parks could cost $23-30+ tip each way depending which park your are going to. You may have to pay per person on the shuttles.

If there is a family of you this can soon tot up as chinners says you should budget for this. If your group /family were 5plus this could work out at $50 a day x 10 days.=$500

This kind of money would hire you a car for the 2 week period you would be able to go to may more places, ie Space center, Old town kissimmee, gatorland, Florida Mal /all the shopping malls, Blue springs state park. the beach for a day etc, it would be much more convenient and may well be cheaper in the long run.

It would be a good idea to ring your hotel ask about shuttle buses and find out the cost if any.

Your Post was somewhat confusing , Disney resorts are hotels %26amp; where you stay on Disney property. Disney lay on buses/ water taxi%26#39;s to take you to any of their theme parks . But not to others or outside shops restaurants and other attractions. You seemed to indicate that you were staying on one. In which case you would not have needed a taxi. and public bus services( what there are) are not allowed to go there to take their guests off property

Looking at my post i see what you mean was confusing, was half asleep when writing sorry,

Thanks everyone for the information, my hotel does do a shuttle, But just looking at alternative incase it doesnt leave early enough.

I might leave early, But it might have a lot of pickups . and it might take an hour or more to get there . Distance you could drive in 10 min.

    Backwater Nicks in Capri

Does anyone know if Backwater Nicks in Capri opened up after the hurricane? I thought that was a wonderful place and can%26#39;t wait for it to open again.

    thanks!

    Backwater Nicks in Capri

Backwater Nicks, a former waterfront bar and grill located at 231 Capri Blvd., was razed in mid-December after damage from Hurricane Wilma closed its doors, according to Philip Starling, general manager of the Tarpon Club, owners of the Backwater Nicks property.

Starling said architects are working on a new design for the casual bar to be built at the same location, but he couldn’t give a timeline for when the new bar would be built or opened.

“At some point, we will have a Backwater Nicks over there again,” Starling said.

    Boat trips around Marco island

I am going to be at MI in April. Want to rent a boat for a day. Any suggestions on how to best spend the day, where to go, what to see?

    Boat trips around Marco island

I do it every Thanksging. We rent 2 deck boats. Go to Factory Bay Marina. Tell them you want to go to the penninsula where everyone anchors down the boats and sit /play on the beach

    Boat trips around Marco island

    Hi Rochester,

Does the Marina at the Factory Bay offer rental boats to the public or do you have to have a membership?

    Randy

Hi. We%26#39;ve been renting boats on Marco for 12+ years. We%26#39;ve had great luck with www.marcoriver.com. Located on Bald Eagle Drive conveniently right next to our favorite watering hole, Jack%26#39;s Lookout. You can also go to www.cedarbayrentals.com.

Ask them to show you on the map how to get to Keewadin Island. We used to call it the ';secret beach';. More crowded now but you won%26#39;t even know you%26#39;re in the US. Awesome. Bring the coolers for a great beach picnic.

And don%26#39;t miss out on the sunset cruise on the Kahuna giant catamaran. You can make reservations at the Marco River Marina.

  • casual restaurant close to Apollo Condominiums

We arrive late on Saturday afternoon after an all day drive and are looking for a casual restaurant close to the Apollo with good food. Parents with 3 adult children (19, 23 and 24). Love seafood, soups, salads--open to most anything other than red meat. Any suggestions?

casual restaurant close to Apollo Condominiums

did you already go? If not, there%26#39;s a decent place right in the Apollo, Tide. Many places all along Collier Boulevard. Close to the Apollo is Cathy O%26#39;Clarkes. Many italian places. Captain Brien%26#39;s has seafood and its right next to O%26#39;Clarkes.
